Herniated disc treatment without surgery
A lumbar or cervical herniated disc can usually be treated without surgery. A specialist assesses your MRI and prescribes decompression, manual therapy and laser.
How to recognise a herniated disc
Most herniations occur in the lower back, between L4–L5 and L5–S1. Symptoms depend on which nerve is compressed.
How we treat a herniated disc without surgery
We build your plan from your MRI and examination. Each visit includes 3–4 procedures chosen by the specialist, at the same price.
MRI assessment
Position and size of the herniation and the affected nerve root, assessed in seconds.
Spinal decompression
Computer-controlled traction reduces pressure on the disc and nerve. Direction and force are set from your MRI.
Manual therapy and laser
Stiff segments are mobilised, and BTL laser reduces inflammation and pain.
Exercises
Deep back muscles are strengthened to help prevent a recurrence.
Book a herniated disc assessment
Bring your MRI if you have one. We will analyse it during the visit.
Most people don't need surgery
Most herniated discs are treated conservatively, and symptoms ease within weeks or months. Surgery, including laser surgery, is considered when there are neurological deficits or several months of treatment have not helped.
If your MRI and examination show that you need a surgeon's opinion, we will tell you straight away. After surgery, we help you recover.
L5–S1 herniation: when is surgery really necessary?Symptoms that mean you should not wait, and when conservative treatment is enough.

Common questions about herniated discs
Does a herniated disc heal without surgery?
In most cases, yes. Most herniated discs are treated conservatively, and symptoms ease within weeks or months. Surgery is considered when there are neurological deficits or treatment does not help.
Can a herniated disc be treated without an MRI?
We almost always start treatment only after assessing an MRI: it shows the exact position and size of the herniation. If you have no MRI, we will tell you where to get one.
Is decompression painful?
No. You feel a gentle stretch. The force is increased gradually, and the procedure can be stopped at any time.
Can I exercise with a herniated disc?
During the acute phase, avoid jumping, running and lifting weights. We will choose suitable exercises for your condition.
